Northeast Events Forum Guidelines
  • The New Bluelight does not endorse any of the parties listed in this Event forum. Members who post identifying information about themselves for the purpose of meeting up with other members do so of their own accord, and understand any inherent risks of doing so.

Under any and all circumstances, the Bluelight Forum Moderators and Site Administrators reserve the absolute right to edit, close or delete any and all posts and/or replies on Bluelight without prior notice, reason, or explanation.
EVENT TITLES must include
  • The event name, date, and city (venue also if possible) of the event. NO exceptions! This allows people to find events in their town or on a specific date with ease.
EVENT INFORMATION must include
  • The event lineup, price, venue, time, age limit, and dress code if applicable. You must include all necessary info given on the flyer or website. DJ Bios are not needed but you may include any other information you deem necessary. Anything that has to do with meetups, guest lists, after parties, extra tickets or rides should be contained in the post for that event.
Weekly/Monthly Events
  • All weekly/monthly events should be put into one thread designated for that weekly/monthly. The topic must include the day of the week instead of the date. The title and post must include the normal required information. A new thread may be created for the next months lineup, or you may keep one thread dedicated to just that weekly/monthly.
Non-Club Events
  • Threads in this forum need not pertain to parties and club events only. Anything that might be of interest to yourself or others can be posted here - such as museum exhibits, speakers or rallies, festivals, bands, etc. Just make sure when posting you follow the thread topic guidelines.
Roll call threads
  • There can only be one roll call thread per state. Roll calls for certain colleges are not allowed - however you can add that into an already existing roll call thread for the city/state it is in. Please check this thread for links to the roll call threads before starting one.
Visiting the Northeast?
  • For people visiting the Northeast from other areas that want to find out what is going on, the meetups forum is kept clean enough so that someone visiting the area should be able to easily spot which events are happening when they are in town. Consider looking/posting in the roll call thread for your area because you will get responses from locals. If you must make an individual thread, make sure to include the location and timeframe in your title

Do Not

Issue Personal Attacks
  • There's no place for them, period. This includes any sort of personal drama or negative remarks that instigate problems. If you have an issue with a moderator or other poster of this forum, contact them privately, NOT through posting here. These types of posts WILL BE edited/deleted and warnings will be issued.
Delete Problem Threads
  • If you encounter a problem user, please report the post instead of deleting the whole thread. This way the moderators can keep track of problem posters and deal with them accordingly
Over promote
  • This includes excessive bumping, double posting events and posting event info in multiple threads. Please search to see that there isn’t an existing thread for the event. If you happen to post a second thread for an event, please delete it yourself.
Post Teaser Threads
  • Events can only be posted when the full information is available. The only instance where this is allowed is when it is a large event that everyone would want the preliminary information (ie - Starscape.) In this instance, permission must first be granted by the moderators before creating the thread.
Post Identifying Information
  • This includes phone numbers and addresses of yourself or others. If you must give this information, use e-mail. Any private information posted will be removed.
Post House Parties
  • Please use e-mail to contact those invited to private gatherings, rather than posting about them here so anyone and everyone can see.
Post events outside the Northeast
  • Northeast events includes the areas of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington D.C. If you want to discuss events going on in another location, please go to that particular area's meetup forum.
Spam
  • This forum is for event information only. Do not make posts about dj bookings, your new cd, or any other sort of advertisement. If you promote for a company that is throwing an event, then by all means post the event (but follow the guidelines) just don't make a post simply dedicated to getting your name out there. Also, sending unsolicited emails or messages to members is against the Bluelight user agreement (see #11).

Questions, Suggestions or Complaints?
  • If there is anything in the guidelines that you are unsure of, please contact a moderator for clarification before posting. Please direct any questions, suggestions or complaints about this forum to any of the moderators via email or private message (not through posts!) You may also contact the administrators or supermoderators if there is an issue you do not feel comfortable talking to the moderators about. To contact any of the above regarding a private matter, please refer to this page for contact information.

These guidelines may be revised at anytime. Please check this post frequently. All guidelines have been put into place in order to keep the forum organized and easy to navigate and most importantly, a good place to discuss events. These guidelines will be enforced in order to maintain this.

Special thanks to Mellabopper for the original guidelines from which these were revised, and to West and Midwest events for adopted statements.

Thanks,
  • Your Northeast Events Moderators
