=========// A NEW YEARS REZOLUTION 2//===============
RezFrontWeb.jpg

"Turning back the Clock":
"Back in the days when kids were mack daddy's, striped Lee jeans, Playboy's and Caddy's" the sounds of the American underground machine were starting to take shape. Before the first mix, the first scratch, and first backspin, there was The Sugarhill Gang. Pioneers from the the concrete jungle, unknowingly ready to help change the course of American music history. The birth of hip-hop saw the death of disco, and the record became more than a recording, it became a tool. Fast forward to the late 80's, the drums began beating in the New York underground once again, and Frankie Bones would emerge. A new era begins, highlighted by super-clubs like NASA, and transplants like DB. Rave culture sweeps thru urbania like its predecessor hip hop, making the underground breathe once again. Those times are gone, but the memories live on in the ears, hearts and souls of us all. So be ready to take a trip back, to a time when there was only one school, and the sounds of the underground were fresh and new. Join us as we rewind the clock to many times of the past, and let True Productions launch you into the New Year, consider time RESOLVED....

// MAIN ROOM:======================================

THE SUGARHILL GANG (3:00-3:45)
(Sugarhill Records) NYC
*TURNING BACK THE CLOCK- ALL 6 OF THE ORIGINATORS OF HIP HOP MUSIC, LIVE!*
Formed in New Jersey in 1979, the Sugarhill Gang is arguably the first professional rap group in history, coining (or at least popularizing) the term "hip hop" in their smash 1979 single "Rapper's Delight." Comprising rappers Master Gee, Wonder Mike and Big Bank Hank, the Sugarhill Gang was brought together by Sugarhill Records founder Sylvia Robinson, who saw a market for a record of music like that performed by amateur DJs and MCs at Bronx block parties. Almost instantly after the first radio play of “Rapper’s Delight” the song began selling thousands of copies daily. Quickly rising to No. 4 on the charts, the song broke the ice for hip-hop music and took it from the streets to a global audience. Sugarhill Gang quickly released many more hits to help define the culture like “Break Dance-Electric Boogie” and “8th Wonder.” There releases jump started Sugarhill Records and later paved the way for hip hop icons Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Melle Mel, and many more of hip hops early pioneers. (Sugar Hill Gang >> "Our New Year's Rezolution is to bring you the “Hip hop the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop, a you don’t stop rock it out baby bubbah to the boogie da bang bang the boogie to the boogie da beat”)

SPACEMEN (12:30-1:30)
*LIVE - Trance & Breaks Performance *
(Inner Vision Music / http://www.spacemen.us) FL
Each member of SPACEMEN has a unique design imprinted on their face. Each specific once with the power to reach out and lure the listener into the peaceful sounds of their identities. If you have seen ANY performances by these Artists, you will understand exactly what sets these beings apart from the rest. When their show commences, you are immediately abducted; and held captive for a full hour! You are now completely under their control. The intensity builds and builds just to the point of orgasm, and then gets smoothed out one last time before these three extra-terrestrials drop the bomb! The energy level they bring to the floor is PHENOMENAL. With sound waves pulsating into your body from all around, SPACEMEN definitely create a euphoric experience for all who wish to experience it. SPACEMEN chose to imprint their first crop circles in the U.S. Dance Scene from an entity far and beyond our wildest imaginations (not to mention our current advancement). SPACEMEN have also landed at major festival events all over the nation such as Ultra Music Festival during Winter Music Conference in Miami.

WTF...WHY does this have to be on NYE? I really don't feel like being at the Asylum on NYE, I'm havin a kegger instead...but what the fuck? Sugar Hill Gang? How the fuck did they swing that? I really wish I could go, but I already have like 30 people coming over my house...

sounds dope but i am not feeling the idea of being @ the asylum on NYE......but dont get me wrong the line-up is off the hook for real.

I will be up in MA during this time visiting some fellow BL'ers.

This could be an option. I personally am not blown away by the line-up or anything but, I think where I am staying is near the Asylum. We'll see :D

I have already promised my wife we'd do something "non-rave related" this year but otherwise I would be there in a heartbeat. Props to True for some great bookings for this one, this should be a great time!!

well according to the flyer, you get access to the VIP room, you get free red bull and water, and also some free mix CDs, and some other free giveaways, as well as being able to chill out with some of the DJs I would guess...

VERY NICE LINEUP

I might just do this party for New Years. FINALLY checking out this Asylum venue. I don't feel like doing any NY parties or the Times Square thing, or any parties around my way. This IS a definite possibility. The lineup is extremely HOT, so I know my ass will be on the dancefloor the whole night!!
But how big is this venue?? I'm sure its going to be hella crowded for a lineup like this AND on New Years. And if its going to be hella crowded and full with etards on the dancefloor taking up space then I don't think I want to go. But the lineup is SO NOICE!!

someone give me some info. about the size (how big) and how crowded to expect. THANKS!!

venue size & flyer

At the Asylum, we cut off our crowds at 2,000 people; yet the club can hold up to 2,500. We like to keep a comfortable environment inside the club for everyone that paid good money to be in there.
We don't anticipate a sell out on New Years Eve, however; it should definitely be a very solid crowd! Tickets are going very quick, so i suggest getting them soon if you decide to spend your NYE with us :)
E-mail me w/ your snail mail address so i can send you a flyer if you'd like:
