Opium poppy shelf life?

I didnt think poppy straw was illegal in the uk tho?. And its not any less illegal because its got a lower alkaloid content. The woodentops arnt going to raid you and say "dude, this straw is 0.9% instead of 0.2% youre nicked tinkerbell"

And if the pods are normal straw instead of specialist treated/bred lower opium types they will be cheaper abd you will sell more of them.

I'm not sure about the legality of poppy straw, but regarding the pods themselves I think this is the relevant part of that Wikpedia article "Many varieties, strains, and cultivars of Papaver somniferum are in existence, and the alkaloid content can vary significantly."

The legal arts and crafts sellers will be selecting and selling the varieties, strains and cultivars that have low opioid alkaloid content. If they don't, they run the risk of being detected and prosecuted. All of these various strains are already in existence so I dont see any reason why the less opioidy ones would be more expensive. If anything, I would have thought that the varieties with the opi content present would be more expensive due to the higher legal risks that everyone involved would be running.

I'm not a legal expert, but it seems likely to be the case that any poppy straw or pods that are bred or selected for their opioid alkaloid content are illegal, whilst those that are not, are not. Whether this is knowingly or not on the part of the seller and buyer is probably technically irrelevant in the eyes of the law. Although I would hope that no judge would want to prosecute some innocent art student who has inadvertently purchased some mega potent opioid rich pods, when all they wanted to do was to make a floral display out of them.

I dont think the cops are raiding arts and crafts stores for poppies tho. And why would the concentration of opium make it less illegal? If the cops catch you with cocaine they dont give you a shorter sentence if its weak. If that was the case I would set up a shop selling 20% pure cocaine.

If I had an arts and crafts shop I would get the strongest opium type I could because I would make more money selling them to junkies. If the cops come how on earth would you know how much opium is in them? You arnt a chemist. Has an arts and crafts shop ever been raided?

theres a few arts and crafts shops that jusr sell poppy heads - surely they know the score?

This conversation between us kind of seems to be going in circles now, with both of us apparently talking at cross purposes. I'm not quite sure if we're understanding each others positions.

Anyway, all I really know is what I read on the wiki article, along with my own experiences of having purchased very different strains of Papaver Somniferum pods ostensibly from arts and crafts sellers on each occasion.

No parts of the poppy plant are illegal in the UK. But preparing drugs from them definitely is.

Play smart. Harvest the pods with a long enough stem to claim 'dried flower displays'.

Use at your leisure..

There's a place been selling kilograms of just poppy heads for the last 20 years. What kind of flower arranging can you do with just the heads? Mind you I couldn't get high off 150 at a time so I dunno.

Either you're an alien or their pods are shite.

You decide :p

Fuck me, I can get twatted from just 12 of my homegrown pods...

Some of the batches of dried pods that are doing the rounds currently are nothing like the batches of a few years ago. Most of the 'good alkaloids' have been removed (either deliberately or not I don't know) from the currently easily available batches of dried poppy pods in the UK.

A few years ago you could get major opioid effects from a few pods, heavy nods and itches and all that sort of good stuff. These days all the pods do is give a decent stimmy energetic mood and confidence uplift and a bit of relaxation, and an increase in appetite, and some gastro intestinal 'soothing'. I still like these pods, even though they are significantly less than they used to be; they do still have some value in my opinion, but they are nothing like they used to be.

I grind them down in a grinder, and there is no difference in the effects whether I have 2 grinders full of powder soaked in litres of just off the boil water, or a fraction of that dose. THis is the equivalent of 4-`12 large pods. As there is no difference it's only logical to use the minimum amount that yields the effects, such as they are, and so this is what I do.

In the 'good old days' I would have been comatose or dead on such a dose of 12 or more large potent pods. And I would have been heavily physically addicted and into significant w/d territory with continued daily use. Now there is no withdrawl, other than GI upset, lack of energy and lowered mood. They just aren't potent any more.

The dried pods easily keep for years Axe Battler.
You still can from pods in UK go to punjabi grocery stores half our adult community on them

Fucking hell how I wish I had saved some of those millions of seeds from those good pods. Could maybe have grown a small crop every year.

There almost certainly will be some Punjabi grocery stores to try in this city. If they are anything like the Somali grocery stores it won't go too well though. I gave up after trying one of them for some Khat after having read up a bit about Mephedrone during that era. The woman was friendly enough but clearly did not have a clue what I was asking for. I can imagine going round Punjabi grocery stores showing them an 'arts and crafts' poppy pod, and asking them if they have got any of these. I can imagine it, but I don't much fancy doing it .

Yeah it seems I must have been jumping to conclusions about the illegality of pods with lots of opioid alkaloids in them.

Surely it can't be a coincidence though that the sellers who used to sell those good pods are no longer in business, whilst those selling pods with no / very little alkaloids continue to do so openly?

It's all conjecture about the law though I have to admit.

If it's the site I think you're referring to, I've used them quite a number of times. They sell all kind of other dried floral plants and decorations. The Gigantium heads never come with stalks/stems - perhaps they know that some people buy batches of heads purely for recreational purposes. But as it's not illegal to sell or buy them I don't see why they would need to breed alkaloid-free heads unless the govt brought in legislation, which wouldn't surprise me as rumour has it, whipped cream N20 canisters will soon be criminalised.

Did you get high off the heads?
