What's worst about the USA

Take a shower more than once a month please, this goes for the Europeans :) :) :)

i am from america and i hate it. what i hate most is the puritanical influence in america. You can see its influence in the total repression of sexuality as well as the strict prohibitionsist drug policy. Also, alot of americans are pretty stupid and close-minded, and will pretty much follow and do what they are told without any kind of questioning of authority or establishment. They are also hypocrites. Down with the usa! I want to move to england or denmark.

repression of sexuality? people in the U.S are starting to have sex in middle school. Our T.V sets project violence and smut and softcore porn into the minds of our children. Rap/Hiphop is teaching our kids to bump/grind at school dances.
I'm not saying that we should ban these things. I like adult television and Rap, but we are a free country that has the best and the worst of many things. We have loads of drugs everywhere BECAUSE of the "prohibitionsist drug policy" Many people are open minded about drug use. Most americans think that drug addiction is bad, but if someone wants to do drugs, that's there choice.

I agree, but this statement should apply to all people. Most people are stupid and close minded. Just because you are more "liberal" or are an "openminded Europeon" doesen't mean that your governments don't control what you do and influence how you think.
What country is better?
The government stays out of your lives and exept for "The man" it stays out of your home.
A government is not a singular entity ( unless we are really controlled by the illuminati ;) ) a government is made up of the people in it. For the most part people in the U.S are good people with a fairly decent education.
Did you ever think that maybe the people of america WANT our country to be this way? Maybe we want to be religious/conservative/liberal

Most of the people who are gonna post in this are not living in america. So if they post something about how they hate america they are hypocrites. This thread shouldn't be in Europe's forum. American's know best what is worst about our country. (i'm not saying that we haven't pissed people off, you people are entitled to your opinion just as i am entitled mine.)

If an American says to a English person that they like your accent you can say you dont have an accent, that you are from England and this is how its suppoused to sound.
LOL

Some american chick said to me this weekend "You have an English accent." to which i replied "I know. I'm from England."

What I was talking about was the hypocrisy of repression of sexuality too. First, even though there is starting to be more sexuality on tv and such, its not as open as in most european countries. Secondly, they are allowed to show someone getting shot to death or stabbed or otherwise murdered, but they arent allowed to show naked breasts? It doesnt really make any sense.

I didnt say the government can force us how to think, I said that people choose to accept the status quo and not think for themselves. So few people vote, and so many of the ones that do dont make an educated vote, they just vote for whoever their party nominated.

Malice in Wunderland,

i'm afraid you're somewhat intellectually dishonest. not only are YOU contributing to an overall generalisation about European attitudes, but you're doing so in the meanest, most wilfully ignorant & bloody-minded fashion.

Look, FOR FUCK'S SAKES, there were two 5+ page threads in this forum: one entitled 'what's worst' and one entitled 'what's best'. if you can't work out for yourself why this thread is dedicated to voicing people's opposition to the current political hegemony the US administration is pushing, then to be honest you're not worth arguing with.

read people's posts in this thread before posting your useless insinuations. there are PLENTY - and i do mean PLENTY - of examples of people clearly stating that they mean no harm to america's people or ideals, but merely to the brutal & selfish application of its particular form of empire building.

i mean really... if you're going to consider taking on some of the best-informed and most politically aware bluelighters on the board, perhaps doing a little homework would help. otherwise, i'm afraid, you will only further your ignorance...

if you want to have a SERIOUS and informed political discussion, please read up, make some intelligent points rather than hysterical me-too hyperbole, and actually try to ARGUE A CASE rather than knee-jerk reactionist self-defence. if you had any interest in the subject that wasn't governed by nationalist egotism, i think you'd find that people here are remarkably open-minded & willing to critices every governmental injustice.

here's a start:

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/journal.php?s=&action=comments&entryid=6765#comments

read that.

if you have any constructive argument to contribute, then by all means please come back & do so. in the meantime, i take it your silence can be attributed to an acceptance of defeat?

That's nice Dr. Suess, another long winded, pseudo-intellectual response that could have been easily conveyed in far fewer words; "I don't agree with Malice's points of view, therefore he is a stupid head."

I also consider that post of your's to be a really sad attempt at goading me into picking a fight with you. I feel that I am skating on thin ice here on this board and really don't feel like (to paraphrase you) "getting into a childish pissing match" which would most likely result in you giving me another warning.

As far as being willfully dishonest and ignorant, you're wrong.
Willfully bias? Sure. Only to offer some opposistion. In everyday life my personal views are a lot more moderate then "MaliceNwunderland's". That doesn't mean I don't believe in some of the essential truth of my points made here. Useless insinuations? Maybe you should do some homework. Nothing I posted was false. Just presented with a slant that you (and others) didn't find very appealing.

Serious and informed political discussion? The most intelligent things I've seen in this thread is stuff like:

"American bitches are fat because of KFC and McDonald's"
or
"Isn't it funny when Americans say you talk funny and then you say no you talk funny and then yur nooooo you talk funny. Isn't that funny."

Real Mensa material guys. 8(

This was flat out false

Your inability to spell a five letter word which is on the screen in front of you does somewhat call your intelligence into question....

HAHAHA You're really reaching now man. I didn't know I was taking a typing test. Get serious. You're the reason Americans have so many of those "Polish jokes."

Tell me again what's false about that list. None of that stuff was here before the European exploitation of the "new world".

(I'll give you greed, consumerism and sexual deviance, but that's it.)

no, not at all. i offered you - in the form of a link & some gentle rebukes - what i perceived to be a genuine case for why some people are frustrated about america.

I also consider that post of your's to be a really sad attempt at goading me into picking a fight with you. look, i WOULD NOT give a warning because of what's happening here... giving downright harmful advice in a support forum is one thing; having a disagreement in a social forum is another. don't for one second think that i'd be petty enough to try and goad you into conflict for any reason other than 1) you were fucking rude about people i know & love and 2) you have yet to offer me a reasonable or sustainable argumentative case.

i've only given 2 warnings in the 2 years i've modded here. i'm not a mod stalinist, and i'm not fucking petulant enough to try to pick fights with you to exact some sort of 'revenge'. after all, to be honest, you really don't bother me that much :)

if you don't believe in some of the 'essential truths' you've posted, how do you expect us to?

come on, really. if anyone's undermining the case they've made it's you... look, i know a shitload about US history. i study it, write about it, talk about it, read about it & think about it. i don't think you even bothered really to take the time to read the link i posted, which is what we'd call an actual argument, instead of just bit-part squabbling. seriously man, if you fancy an actual argument about why people shouldn't feel pissed off at the US govt., then by all means post some serious points. i would relish the opportunity to actually engage rather than just watch all this back-n-forth bullshit.

presented 'with a slant that you... didn't find very appealing'?

what exactly in fuck's name does THAT mean?

i'm not american. i'm not european. i'm not asian. i don't know what 'slant' might not be appealing to me; i have friends, good, life-long friends, and (soon) family in the US. i read the work of american scholars every single day. i correspond with american friends, and give my time up to help the predominantly american posters in The Dark Side. i am able, like most sensible people, to see the good & the bad sides of the US govt., and like i've said - and others have - 1,000,000 times, FRUSTRATION AT THE ACTIONS OF THE BUSH (OR PREVIOUS) ADMINISTRATIONS DOES NOT EQUAL BASE CONTEMPT FOR ALL PEOPLE OF AMERICA. if you can't grasp that then what are you doing here?

Serious and informed political discussion? The most intelligent things I've seen in this thread is stuff like:

"American bitches are fat because of KFC and McDonald's"
or
"Isn't it funny when Americans say you talk funny and then you say no you talk funny and then yur nooooo you talk funny. Isn't that funny."

Real Mensa material guys

read the whole thread. read the link i posted. in fact, if you think you're 'mensa' material, come along to current events & politics and see how long you last....

look, i think you have to realise some things.

everyone here is just as happy to criticise the shit things about their own country, and just as happy to point out the good things about others'. don't you fucking DARE to tell me there aren't american bluelighters who don't care about anything outside their own borders; why do you expect that in europe, the uk & africa (for remember, we represent many different countries here) people should suddenly bend over to kiss the american flag?

this is a SOCIAL forum. post a thread in the lounge, and see how many entirely serious replies you'll get. given that this thread took off AT THE SAME TIME as the 'what's best' thread, i think it would be pretty foolish not to look at the whole picture, no? it certainly makes you look foolish. it's like running into a courtroom, screaming 'HEY, YOU GUYS ARE SO FUCKING WRONG, THIS MAN IS INNOCENT!' before actually listening to the defence's case.

if you actually have some real arguments, let's hear them. i'd be interested to know if you're actually a native american...

Look man. I never defended US politics or policy. I never defended the Bush administration. I never told any one to "bend over and kiss the American flag." I agree with you, there are some real narrow minded Americans here, and if they started shit talking Europe I'd say something to them too.

If you want to facilitate a discussion, go right ahead. I read your journal and have lived some of your beefs and concearns. I said my piece and you guys really shouldn't get so upset about it.

I would post in the politics forum here, but I frequent other boards with politics forums and that's exhausting enough. I come here for drugs. (and no I'm not "mensa material", i was just sick of the same tired response; "well that's just...just...just ignorance".)

Concearning the warning: I shoudn't have brought it up, but I still disagree with you. I did not give harmful advice, but this isn't the time or the place for that.

As far as your crass questioning of my race goes, my mother is 1/2 Chinook.
A tribe of people nearly eradicated by European diseases after Lewis and Clarks' expedition in 1805. (so yeah predominately European(white) and some Native American.)

P.S You misquoted me. I said, "It doesn't mean I don't believe in the essential truths of the points I made here."

right, so we're broadly agreed (1st paragraph).

i'm not upset by you. i'm upset by the perpetuation of uninformed generalisations - such as you imply with your constant posts berating the stupidity & obvious bias of anti-american opinion here. you claim that we only want 'dead' or 'self degrading' americans, when in fact YOU HAVEN'T YET (to my knowledge) RECOGNISED THAT THIS IS ONE OF TWO THREADS CONCERNING AMERICA. can you see how this undermines any particular argument you might have? claiming that 'bias [sic] one sided america bashing' is all we do is pretty stupid when you haven't acknowledged that there is an equally long & worthy thread devoted to THE GOOD THINGS about the usa.

see how this simple omission makes your claims about how racist & uneducated & biased & uninformed & culturally elitist & personally responsible we all are somewhat ridiculous?

i can't remember the last time a US bluelighter fought with UK bluelighters. i guess it says something about your particular approach to this thread.

no-one should be forced to post in CE&P, it's a terrible place most of the time anyway ;)

re: the warning. if you really do disagree, by all means contact me or any of the other mods. i'm always happy to further discuss past actions / learn from past events, so if you genuinely feel it was out of line i'd like to redress that balance.

as for 'crass questioning of my race'?

how's this:

'If you really are as uptight as you seem maybe you should stay in the UK.
White bread, hating, European invaders with no sense of humor ' - aimed at titania, universally acknowledged as one of the most lovely & appreciated posters in this forum's history, who has been posting here for at least two years BEFORE you even heard about bluelight. and who happens to come from africa.

'you're the reason Americans have so many of those "Polish jokes." ' <-- well, that stands alone i guess.

p.s. apologies for misquoting - consider that point retracted.

:)

p.p.s. -

in future, when you're making a joke, it would be really helpful if you could use a smiley. that way, seeing as we can't sense tone over the internet, people would KNOW when you were joking.

really, i'm sure you must concede that by posting 'european tourists' without any indication that you were joking - no smiley, no nothing - how did you expect people to react? and besides - it's hardly like titania came down on you like a ton of bricks.

it's simple. just use : and ) to designate what's intended as humour and what's intended as serious commentary. it will help to avoid wasteful pages of bullshit arguments like this one.... ;)

A person's seniority here doesn't impress me. I would have made the same overeactionary comment to anyone. I still don't think that was a very racist comment. I was just being a dork about the Polish thing it should have been accompanied by a ;) or a :) or a :D.

I just felt like you were implying that by mentioning my racial make up, I was try to lend validity to what I was saying. That wasn't the case at all, I just felt like giving a little background on myself.

I looked for that other thread and never found it. It's cool that you guys were fair, but I'm betting It wasn't half as interesting and engaging as this one.

And just to back up the fact that in all seriousness I'm really not down with stereotypes and generalisations; anyone of you, titania, Harry, Red, nailz, Dr. Seuss, would be more then welcome in my sweat lodge. We could drink em fire water and smoke em peace pipe, then go see a baseball game or pro wrestling match and then eat a hot dog or an apple pie. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

P.s. Hey Dr Seuss I just looked at you pics. Killer Mowhawk! You get the peace pipe first.

MaliceNwunderland, but lets be serious here for second mate, nothing ever happens in OR, Portland is pretty, but thats about it!

=D

You look like even more of a dork when you realise that I'm not even Polish!

BTW Cheers for the invite to come and visit you. Sorry buy I can't because of the new US visa regulations. However you're welcome to visit me in Poland. You'd like it here, 90% alcohol costs US$6 a bottle (the legal kind) and GHB is legal too. Oh, and we pay US$5 for E and US$50 for a gram of coke....

The legal GHB is of course good and cheap MDMA too, but the rest could be blown away by a daylong drive either north or south of my location. Anybody could get into Latin America. There plenty of cheap places a "European invader" could plunder pharmacuticals.

...and bite me, Grep. If you don't like Portland don't come here. Stay in NYC [edited].

A daylong drive? Shit, when we want stuff here we just go to the private doctor. Walk in, say "My xanax 2mg and rohypnol 1mg prescriptions have both run out so can I hae another 30 of each please?", pay $12 for the consultation, walk out with the scripts. Into the pharmacy and cash them both in, walk home and enjoy. Total time taken = 30 minutes. Sure beats a day in the car....
